Explanation and method
What the Rosary is
The Rosary joins vocal prayer to mental prayer. The repeated Hail Mary forms a measured background while the mind dwells on the Incarnation, Passion and glory of Christ in union with His Mother.
How to begin
Make the Sign of the Cross, recite the Apostles’ Creed, one Our Father, three Hail Marys for faith, hope and charity, and the Glory Be. Announce each mystery before its decade.
How to meditate
Place the Gospel scene before the mind, adore Christ in the mystery, observe the virtue chiefly manifested, ask for the corresponding grace and return gently to the scene whenever distracted.
For beginners
Use one simple sentence for each Hail Mary: Who is present? What does Christ do? What does Mary do? Which vice must I renounce? Which virtue must I practise today?
