Life and witness
The same day, of St. Agathoclia, maid-servant to an infidel woman, who being by her cruelly whipped a long time, and otherwise afflicted to make her deny Christ, at length she was presented to the judge, and more cruelly slashed with knives, but persevering still in the confession of her faith, having her tongue cut out, she was cast into the fire.

Saint Agathoclia (Agathocleia; Spanish: Santa Agatoclia) (died c. 230 AD) is venerated as a patron saint of Mequinenza, Aragón, Spain. Her feast day is September 17.

Eodem die sanctae Agathocliae, quae, cum esset ancilla cujusdam mulieris infidelis, a domina sua longo tempore verberibus aliisque aerumnis est vexata ut Christum negaret; demum, oblata Judici ac saevius laniata, et nihilominus in confessione fidei persistens, ideo, post excisionem linguae, in ignem projecta est.
