Cosmas and Damian

At JEgsea, the birth-day of the holy martyrs Cosmas and Damian, brothers, who in the persecution of Dioclesian, after many torments, fetters prisons, sea, fire, crosses, stoning, and arrows, overcome by them, were beheaded; with whom are said to have suffered three of their brothers, Anthimus, Leontius, and Euprepius.

The earliest and briefest Acts of these saints, in Greek, state that they were brought before Lysias, the governor at ^Egis, in Cilicia, in the reign of Diocletian and Maximian.
The governor said, “ Bring in the men accused of the false religion of the Christians.”
The officer answered, “ They stand before thy tribunal, lord.”
The governor said, “ Of what religion are you? What is your fortune, and what are your names and nations ?”
Cosmas and Damian replied, “ We are of Arabia.”
The governor said, “What are your names?”
