At Smyrna, of St. Pionius, priest and martyr, who after divers apologies written for the Christian faith, after the loathsomeness of a stinking prison, where by his exhortations he encouraged many of his brethren to suffer martyrdom, many ways tormented, stuck with nails, and laid upon a hot burning fire, made a happy end for Christ; with whom also suffered fifteen others.
