Life and witness

At Pisa, in Tuscany, of St. Torpes, martyr, who being a chief officer under Nero, and one of those, whom St. Paul the Apostle, writing from Rome to the Philippians, mentions, saying: "All the saints salute you, especially those that are of the house of Caesar:" was for the faith of Christ, by the command of Satellicus, buffeted, most cruelly whipped, and cast unto the beasts to be devoured, by whom being nothing hurt, at last beheaded, accomplished his martyrdom upon the nine-andtwentieth day of April, but his feast is kept on this day, for the translation of his body.
