Pange, lingua, gloriosi Corporis mysterium, Sanguinisque pretiosi, quem in mundi pretium fructus ventris generosi Rex effudit gentium.

Nobis datus, nobis natus ex intacta Virgine, et in mundo conversatus, sparso verbi semine, sui moras incolatus miro clausit ordine.

In supremae nocte cenae recumbens cum fratribus, observata lege plene cibis in legalibus, cibum turbae duodenae se dat suis manibus.

Verbum caro panem verum verbo carnem efficit, fitque sanguis Christi merum; et si sensus deficit, ad firmandum cor sincerum sola fides sufficit.

Tantum ergo Sacramentum veneremur cernui...

English

Sing, my tongue, the mystery of the glorious Body and of the precious Blood which the King of nations, fruit of a noble womb, poured forth for the ransom of the world.

Given to us and born for us of a spotless Virgin, He dwelt in the world and, having scattered the seed of the word, closed His earthly sojourn in wondrous order.

On the night of the Last Supper, reclining with His brethren, after fully observing the law in the prescribed food, He gave Himself with His own hands as food to the Twelve.

The Word made flesh makes true bread into flesh by His word, and wine becomes the Blood of Christ; though sense fails, faith alone suffices to strengthen the sincere heart.

Therefore let us, bowing low, venerate so great a Sacrament...

Preise, Zunge, das Geheimnis des glorreichen Leibes und des kostbaren Blutes, das der König der Völker, Frucht des edlen Schosses, als Lösepreis der Welt vergoss.

Uns geschenkt, für uns geboren aus der unversehrten Jungfrau, weilte Er in der Welt, säte das Wort und beschloss Sein irdisches Leben in wunderbarer Ordnung.

In der Nacht des letzten Mahles, mit den Brüdern zu Tische liegend, erfüllte Er das Gesetz und gab Sich selbst mit eigenen Händen den Zwölfen zur Speise.

Das fleischgewordene Wort macht durch Sein Wort wahres Brot zu Fleisch, und Wein wird Christi Blut; versagt auch der Sinn, so genügt der Glaube dem aufrichtigen Herzen.

Darum lasst uns tief gebeugt ein so grosses Sakrament verehren...
