Oratio initialis: Domine Iesu Christe, qui propter nos viam crucis ambulasti, concede nobis ut passio Tua corda nostra ad paenitentiam et amorem moveat.

I. Iesus ad mortem condemnatur. II. Iesus crucem sibi imponit. III. Iesus primum cadit sub cruce. IV. Iesus Matri suae occurrit. V. Simon Cyrenaeus crucem portat. VI. Veronica faciem Iesu abstergit. VII. Iesus secundo cadit.

VIII. Iesus mulieres Ierusalem consolatur. IX. Iesus tertio cadit. X. Iesus vestibus exuitur. XI. Iesus cruci affigitur. XII. Iesus in cruce moritur. XIII. Iesus de cruce deponitur. XIV. Iesus in sepulcro ponitur.

Ad quamlibet stationem: V. Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi. R. Quia per sanctam crucem Tuam redemisti mundum.

Oratio finalis: Crucem Tuam adoramus, Domine, et sanctam resurrectionem Tuam laudamus et glorificamus; ecce enim propter lignum venit gaudium in universo mundo.

English

Opening prayer: O Lord Jesus Christ, who for us didst walk the way of the Cross, grant that Thy Passion may move our hearts to repentance and love.

I. Jesus is condemned to death. II. Jesus receives the Cross. III. Jesus falls the first time. IV. Jesus meets His Mother. V. Simon of Cyrene carries the Cross. VI. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus. VII. Jesus falls the second time.

VIII. Jesus consoles the women of Jerusalem. IX. Jesus falls the third time. X. Jesus is stripped of His garments. XI. Jesus is nailed to the Cross. XII. Jesus dies upon the Cross. XIII. Jesus is taken down from the Cross. XIV. Jesus is laid in the tomb.

At each station: V. We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee. R. Because by Thy holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Closing prayer: We adore Thy Cross, O Lord, and praise and glorify Thy holy Resurrection; for behold, by the wood of the Cross joy hath come into the whole world.

Method

At each station recall the event of the Passion, adore the charity and obedience of Christ, accuse the sins that caused His sufferings, and ask the grace of perseverance.

Practical form

The traditional response Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi may be followed by an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be, or by a brief silent meditation.
